Diana Cummings studied with David Martin at the Royal Academy of  Music, then with Remy Principe in Rome and Louis Persinger in New York. She is professor of violin at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Read more.

Simon Smith - Second Violins

Simon was a member of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields for 12 years, and has guest led a number of orchestras such as the Bournemouth Symphony, the Britten Sinfonia, the Halle, the Irish Chamber Orchestra and the Salzburg Camerata. Read more.

Ian Jewel - Viola

For 35 years Ian Jewel was well known as the viola player of the Gabrieli String Quartet, with whom he has toured the world and made over fifty recordings as well as numerous broadcasts and television appearances. Read more.

Gillian Thoday’s solo work has included appearances at all the major recital venues in London with first performances of works written for her and broadcasts for the BBC both on radio and television. Read more.

Leon Bosch - Double Bass (Senior and Intermediate)

Principal double bass of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, he has also held the post of principal with the Manchester Camerata. He has performed as concerto soloist many times with distinguished conductors including Sir Charles Groves and Pinchas Zukerman. Read more.

John has, throughout his career, combined instrumental teaching with practising and teaching Alexander Technique, performing and coaching. Read more.


Gwendolyn Fisher - Viola (Summer course)

Gwendolyn is one of two Joint Associate Principal violas in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and was previously a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra, in London. Read more.


Louise Lansdown - Viola (Easter course)

Louise Lansdown was appointed Head of Strings at Birmingham Conservatoire in 2012, after holding the position of Senior Lecturer in the School of Strings at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Read more.

Matthew Sharp - Cello

Matthew Sharp studied cello with Boris Pergamenschikow in Cologne, voice with Ulla Blom in Stockholm and English at Trinity College, Cambridge. He has performed at major venues and festivals worldwide as solo cellist, baritone and actor. Read more.

Daisy Vatalaro - Dalcroze

Daisy went to Clare College, Cambridge, and then the Eastman School of Music, NY, where she studied with Steven Doane. She was in the Bronte Quartet for five years and since then has had a widely varied performing career. Read more.

Celia Waterhouse - Violin (Summer course)

Celia Waterhouse plays with the 1st Violins of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. She combines this with playing as soloist and leader with two chamber orchestras, teaching the violin in SW London and coaching on music courses in England and Germany. Read more.
